She’s Sixteen…

28 01 2012

and beautiful.

So, she’s actually almost seventeen (gasp!), but here are some pictures I’ve taken of our daughter, Jordan, this year-to celebrate who she is at sixteen.

Strong.  Creative.  Funny.  Independent.  Determined.  Smart.  Dreamer.  Friend.  Compassionate.  Beautiful.  Lover of Life. A light-up-the-room smile.  Helper.  Sister.  Daughter.

These are just a few of the words that describe her, celebrate who she is.

But most of all, she is a gift to us.

“A daughter is one of the most beautiful gifts this world has to give.”  ~ Laurel Atherton

We love you, J.  You are growing into an amazing young woman and we are proud of you!

Beautiful Eyes, Beautiful Heart

29 09 2010

Here’s Kaylynn, whose heart is as beautiful as her amazing blue eyes.  Kaylynn is a college senior this year at UCO and has a passionate calling on her life to help others.  Her degree is in education and she absolutely loves children, but her calling goes even deeper.  If you talk to her for just a few minutes, you’ll hear about her hope to travel internationally with a program that works with victims of sex trafficking.  Can I just say wow?  And will you join me in praying that God will continue to guide her down this path, provide for her funding & give her the strength to fully pursue His call on her life?  Thanks, friends…and thanks Kaylynn, for letting me capture some college senior pictures for you.

Sweet Smile

“Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.”  ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Meet Tori, who has the absolute sweetest smile.   Throughout the entire shoot for this 2011 grad, her quiet countenance and contagious smile made for a beautiful morning.

Thank you, Tori & family for allowing me to take your senior pictures…it was a true blessing!

Old Stomping Grounds

Moore, Moore, school we all adore

Red, royal blue, faithful, always true

We’ll be together whatever the weather

lions and lionettes, too!

Oh Moore High, for you we’ll always try

and may we bring honor to our school

We’ll always fight, fight, fight for victory

For MHS we’ll do or die

Ahem.  Sorry, but once you start singing your high school’s fight song, you must complete it.  So tonight I met Matt and one thing we have in common is good ‘ole Moore High School.  One thing we don’t have in common is that Matt is a 2010 grad, and…well, let’s just say I’m not a grad of that particular year. I am a Moore High School alumni and have been for quite some time.

Matt has a great smile–which you will soon see–but there’s more to him than meets the eye.  Matt also helped establish a student humanitarian group called SURGE and is making a difference in the world around him.

So, Matt from MHS–here’s your sneak peek.  And thanks for making a difference.

Graduation Celebration

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose!

~ Dr. Seuss in Oh the Places You’ll Go!

I got a call from my former youth minister’s family last week and it went something like this:

“Hi Melissa–we’ve seen your work and would love for you to take senior pictures of Andrew.”  Thrilled, but thinking “how does my former youth minister have a senior in high school??!”…all the while talking to confirm the time and place.

So after spending some time with Andrew on Saturday, I was impressed.  This kid is smart, funny, kind, handsome, talented & is going places.  Thank you, McCoy family, for allowing me to be a small part of Andrew’s graduation celebration.

Enjoy this sneak peek!
